This and that...

Here I sit looking out my front door at the beautiful 60 degree day God has given to us and realizing how much I am over winter already! I didn't fully understand how much I rely on nice days, either temperature or sun wise, but let me tell you...I am ready for spring.

Not much has been happening on our home front. I got my staples out this past Saturday (didn't hurt a bit) so I guess I'm all done with my head injury and thank goodness it healed quickly and without any complications. I have joined a Bible Study on Thursday mornings and am really enjoying that. I've met some great women and am learning a lot! Tomorrow I get to be a substitute teacher in Matt's preschool class and I'm looking forward to that. Should be interesting...On Saturday after Alexis' soccer game us and two other couples are heading up to our friends cabin for an overnight stay and to do some sledding. We've been doing this the past couple of years just to break up the winter and it's always a good time, complete with lots of laughs and gaining a few pounds from all the food we take along! We'll see if there is much snow left after our past several warm days but if not, we'll just hole up in the cabin and do nothing!

I'm hoping the next post will have some pictures to go with it as I seem to be lacking in the photography department lately.

ER Visit

The kids decided they HAD to go to Nana and Pop's last night so I cooked Mike and I dinner and we were just going to lay low and hang out. He had just gotten back from a trip to Lancaster so he really wasn't up to driving anywhere and that was fine with me. He's been on the hunt for a new scraper blade for the tractor for when he plows snow. Low and behold when he was in Lancaster (farm country of PA) he found one and brought it home. He decided he would get this one out the same way he got the other one out and that was by hooking a chain to it and lifting it out of his truck and then lowering it down. Simple enough right? I was just to stand there and make sure it didn't swing wildly around as he lowered it. Yep-when he was lowering it the chain must have had a kink in it that straightened out with the weight of it and it came undone and the blade when crashing down. I jumped back worried about my toes and then realized I'd been hit in the head with something hard! (We first thought it was a piece of the chain but now we think it was one of the hydraulic cables on the blade) Then the blood came. (I've never had stitches or a broken bone before so I was a bit concerned to say the least) We went up to his parents to grab some towels and off to the ER we went. It felt like the whole side of my head was split open. They got me to a room and cleaned the area pretty well and discovered it was only 2.5 centimeters. So they had to STAPLE-eek-it up with 3 staples. (Getting the staples in didn't hurt at all either) I have to have the staples in for 8 days. The worst part: I can't get my hair colored (and it is in desperate need) for 2 weeks! The best part: Mike got to see, under those wonderful hospital lights, just how gray I really am and that I am not just spending money to have it colored for fun!

Have a good weekend!!
